Come Explore With Us

Cornwallis 1828 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit devoted to living history, education, conservation, outdoor exploration, and community service.

History lives here.

Located on the historic Peter Newport Bragg homestead, settled in 1828, Cornwallis connects visitors with the stories and landscapes of Alabama’s Black Belt.

Our programs include school field trips, history and nature camps, archaeology, trail and creek walks, fishing, and educational workshops.

Giving back together.

Through the Doe Rodeo, hunters donate harvested deer to help feed people in need. Our Bigfoot folklore programs and expeditions invite people to explore the outdoors and share in the spirit of discovery.
